The Idea That Started All the Seeking
There is a particular kind of loneliness in feeling like you are in here and everything else is out there, some version of you standing behind your eyes, looking out at a world that never quite lets you all the way in. Most of us carry that feeling for years without ever once stopping to ask where it came from, or whether it was ever true. In this conversation with the teacher and guide Sabina Witzel, we go looking for the root of it together. She has spent years sitting with people through the awakening process, and when I ask her what awakening actually means to her, she offers something simple that stays with you long after: "awakening to me is like closing the gap." We spend real time here in direct pointing, searching together for the actual line between inside and outside, self and world, the border that seemed so obvious it never needed proving. Sabina describes what she found when she looked: "there was no dividing line, there was just an idea, like inside, outside. There is no line in experience." Near the end she says it even more plainly: "all of it is just an idea, all of it." And something in you may already know this, quietly, before you finish hearing it. She lives in southern Germany and works in a way that is genuinely unusual, tapping into a clairvoyant perception to sense energetic blockages and old primal wounds that can stay quietly active even deep into awakening and beyond, showing up as fear barriers, subtle fixations, or a resistance that will not quite let go. She works almost like a bridge, meeting these places directly and gently, without ever needing you to explain yourself or build a story around what is happening. She walked her own path without a teacher or a tradition to lean on, and it was a single book, Multidharma: The Threads of Awakening by Pierce Salguero, that finally gave her experiences a context she could recognize. These days she offers that same quiet steadiness to others, through individual sessions and groups, in German and in English, online and in person.
