This video explains the rules of Tajweed for Juz' Tabarak (the 29th part of Surah Al-Haqqah). There are two types of Idgham (assimilation): Idgham with Ghunnah (nasalization), which occurs when the letters (ya, nun, mim, waw) follow a tanween or a silent nun; and Idgham without Ghunnah, which occurs when the letters (ra, lam) follow a silent nun or tanween. Iqlab (conversion): This involves replacing one letter with another. It occurs when the letter ba follows a silent nun or tanween. In this case, the tanween or silent nun is changed to a light mim with a Ghunnah of two counts. True Concealment: In this case, the nunation (tanween) or the silent nun is pronounced between clear articulation (idh-haar) and assimilation (idghaam), without emphasis. The nasal sound (ghunnah) is two counts long. The silent nun and nunation are concealed if followed by the letters (taa, thaa, jeem, daal, dhaal, zaay, seen, sheen, sad, dad, taa, dhaa, faa, qaaf, kaaf). Rules of the Silent Meem: This is the meem in which the sukoon (silent) is maintained in both connected and paused speech. There are three types of silent meem: Oral Clarity (Izhar Shafawi): This is pronouncing the meem clearly without nasalization. Oral clarity occurs if the silent meem is followed by any letter of the alphabet except baa and meem. An example of this is (am taqooloon). Rules of Madd (Prolongation): Original Madd: Madd is the lengthening of the sound when pronouncing the long vowels (madd) during Quranic recitation. These long vowels are alif, waw, and ya. The lengthening is two counts, provided there is no hamza or sukoon (absence of a vowel) after the long vowel. If a hamza is followed by a hamzat al-wasl (connecting alif), neither the long vowel nor the hamzat al-wasl is pronounced. Secondary Madd: This type of madd can be divided into five categories: three due to the hamza (connected madd), separate madd, and madd al-badal (substitution madd); and two due to sukoon (absence of a vowel), which are madd al-`arid lil-sukoon (temporary madd due to sukoon) and madd al-lazim (necessary madd). Secondary Madd due to Hamza: Connected Madd: This is the obligatory madd, which involves lengthening the sound of one of the three long vowels (alif, waw, and ya) by four, five, or six counts. The long vowel must be within a single word and follow a hamza in the same word, such as in the words "as-samaa`" (sky) and "al-mala`ikaah" (angels). Substitution Madd: This is also known as permissible madd. It involves lengthening the sound of one of the three long vowels (alif, waw, and ya) by two counts, provided there is a hamza before the madd, such as in the word "aamana" (believers). ● How do we learn to pronounce the letters correctly when reciting the Quran, using their proper points of articulation? Secondary lengthening due to a pause: Continuous lengthening: This occurs by lengthening the sound of one of the three lengthening letters when it follows a pause due to stopping. The letter is lengthened by two, four, or six counts only when stopping. An example of this is the word (يؤمنون). Necessary lengthening: This occurs by lengthening the sound of one of the lengthening letters by six counts. Necessary lengthening occurs when a lengthening letter is followed by a permanent pause. There are different types of necessary lengthening, including: Small assimilation: This is the small assimilation of two identical letters with nasalization. This occurs when a silent meem is followed by another meem. In this case, the silent meem is assimilated with the moving one, as in the phrase (ولكم ما). Small assimilation of two identical letters occurs when there is a silent noon or tanween before the meem, whether it is an original meem or one that has been transformed from tanween and a silent noon, as in the phrase (كتابٍ مبين). ● How to become proficient in the Quran? Oral concealment: This occurs when the letter baa' follows a silent meem, and the baa' is concealed with a nasal sound. An example is (يعتصم بالله).
