In Tigui, a village located between Ségou and Niola, Broulaye, a farmer, offers hospitality to Yiriba and N’golo. Unbeknownst to him, Broulaye had smeared his wife's body with substances to prevent any other man from sharing her bed. Yiriba violated the laws of hospitality and cuckolded the peasant. On the way home, Yiriba fell ill, his genitals swelling. Broulaye, informed of this, promised to treat him with the antidote on the condition that he confess to the entire village that he had violated the laws of hospitality and slept with another man's wife. Biton ordered the fetish priests who guarded the four fetishes of Ségou to predict his successor from among the children of his household. They consulted their fetishes and instructed Biton to prepare millet porridge in which his ring would be hidden, and to invite the children to drink.
