[Midas e-Learning] Numerical Modeling - Analysis Training on Displacement Time History Analysis

COURSE 3 NUMERICAL MODELING & ANALYSIS TRAINING Pouya will provide a demonstration of how midas Civil is used to perform a displacement time history analysis for long span bridges. The following skills will be demonstrated: MODELING OF NONLINEAR BOUNDARY CONDITIONS TO STUDY SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION IN TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS It is essential to take nonlinear soil behavior into account when performing a time history analysis. midas Civil has advanced features that allow engineers to seamlessly model soil springs to create an accurate simulation of nonlinear soil behavior. SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION You will learn two general approaches to simulate soil and structure interaction: 1) direct approach, in which the entire foundation system and structure are modeled and the surrounding soil is modeled with nonlinear springs; and 2) substitution approach, in which the entire foundation system will be substituted with a general spring containing 6x6 stiffness, damping and mass matrices. RECOGNIZE ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATION OF DIFFERENT NONLINEAR SOIL SPRING MODELS USER IN TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS Depending on the ground situation, different nonlinear hysteretic models are used to model the soil's behavior with springs.
