Is the LDK layout of a newly built apartment really okay to use as is? The TH212 site in Daejang-dong, Pangyo, featured a spacious common area extending from the living room to the kitchen; however, the structure lacked the proportions and circulation to accommodate actual daily life. With a wide living room and a kitchen pushed into a corner, the space was sufficient, but it was difficult to establish a central hub for daily living. Therefore, this project focused on redesigning the order within the space while maintaining the LDK structure. By shifting the kitchen to the center of the common area and positioning the island and dining table further forward, we created a flow where cooking, dining, and relaxation naturally connect. Additionally, through a large coffered ceiling that unifies the living room and kitchen, we preserved the scale of the space while clearly establishing a visual center. Transforming the space from merely spacious into a structure that is actually comfortable to use.
