How to Accomplish 8 Hours of Work in 4 Hours

This video shares 9 very helpful step-by-step tips for getting a lot of work done in a short span of time. Get more done in less time! Every single minute matters; if you don’t use every minute effectively and efficiently, you’ll waste valuable time that you can’t get back. 1) Make a list of everything you need to do. 2) Go through the list and put them in priority order. The best way is to have every task, request, project, or work order printed and affixed on something sturdy, like a pocket folder, to then prioritize and see what the top-top emergency jobs with deadlines are. Even your weekend tasks and chores can be prioritized. Put everything you want to do or need to do in one main pile, prioritizing what’s first, second, third, etc. 3) Once you prioritize, the next step is putting in focused work. Get to work in short increments of time – but highly focused. How long can you work in 1 sitting with high focus and concentration? 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 hour? Figure out what works for you and time-block. 4) Use your “down” times highly effectively – times when you are not interrupted or disrupted to get things done. Down times must be used effectively to get a lot done and get ahead. 5) Doing the actual work that you need to do – especially work that is undesirable and uninteresting – requires self-motivation and self-discipline. Motivate yourself and push yourself to get the work done. Stop making excuses and “convincing” yourself that you need to do something else. Focus on the task at hand. 7) Put away as many distractions as possible to stay focused on getting tasks accomplished quickly yet efficiently and effectively. Go through the list of the common time guzzlers. See which ones apply to you and make sure each time you catch yourself doing one of those, you stop. 8) Let go of perfectionism. Good enough is good enough. Stop wasting time redoing things so you can get more done in less time. 9) Be careful with going down “rabbit holes” by letting your thoughts derail you in various directions, keeping you from accomplishing the task at hand. Try using a timer to stay on task for short periods of time – like discussed earlier – set times for brief spurts of focused time on tasks.
