This time I tried tying a black parachute! It's a parachute pattern tied with black material. This fly imitates anything black, from terrestrials to mayflies. It's an effective fly from summer to fall. As the season progresses and autumn approaches, stream fish become increasingly wary. When casting a common pattern, it's not uncommon for fish to come and look at the fly only to turn back at the last moment. In times like these, one strategy is to rotate through various flies and try a fly that they've never seen before. And this fly is one of the flies I use as part of that rotation.
