Roaring Camp & Big Trees Railroad: The Redwoods Experience

Felton, California is home to the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad, built among the redwoods of the Big Trees Ranch and routed to allow as minimal redwood trees to be cut down as possible. Today, RC&BT engines "Dixiana", a two-truck Lima Locomotive Works-built Shay locomotive designated by the railroad as their #1, and "Sonora", a three-truck Lima-built Shay that once ran as West Side Lumber Company #7, will be hauling the trains up grades that will reach up to 9%, traverse switchbacks, and wind around tight curves through the redwood forest.
