The street runs from Old Town Square in a north-easterly direction, turns in an arc to the east, parallel to the Vltava, and then flows vertically into Revoluční street. Historically, one of the most critical trade routes has run here since the formation of the settlement around Old Town Square, continuing through the German merchant settlement in the Petrská čtvrt area (around Petrské náměstí) to the ford near Štvanice and farther, connecting Prague with Pojizeří and Eastern Bohemia. Today, its economic and transport importance is somewhat secondary, but many good restaurants and cafes are located here. https://goo.gl/maps/HCkdkGFujdVuudfbA The Old Town Square is the oldest and most important square in historical Prague. It is surrounded by historical buildings such as the Old Town City Hall with the famous Astronomical Clock, the imposing St. Nicholas Church and the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, and many houses and palaces of various architectural styles and colourful histories. It has been the centre of Prague's Old Town since the Middle Ages, when it was a marketplace at the crossroads of European trade routes. The first houses were built around the Old Town Square in the 12th and 13th centuries. Some present homes still have Romanesque or Gothic foundations, basements, or ground floors. The Old Town City Hall was built in the 14th century, and the Church of Our Lady before Tyn a little later. The Old Town Square became Prague's economic and political centre. https://goo.gl/maps/5p7mgsjJ9zqtHYAC9 Smetana Embankment (Smetanovo nábřeží) in the Old Town of Prague runs along the right bank of the Vltava from the Legion Bridge to Charles Bridge. It is named after the world-famous Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, who had a music school here at the Lažanský Palace from 1868 to 1869. The Smetana Embankment was built between 1841-and 1845; it was initially called Old Town Embankment; later, in 1894, it was renamed František Embankment, and from 1919 it was called Masaryk Embankment. During World War II, it had two names: between 1940 and 1942, it was the Vltava Embankment, and from 1942 to 1945, it was the Reinhard Heydrich Ufer. It was named after the first president of Czechoslovakia, T.G. Masaryk, again after the war, and later it took its current name – Smetana Embankment. Named after Bedřich Smetana, a prolific and distinguished Czech composer, the embankment is an ideal area for strolls, relaxation and sunbathing. It offers a magnificent view of Prague Castle, especially in the morning or evening when the sun is low. At night, this area becomes alive with clubbing as the endless bars and clubs open up to locals and tourists. You wonwon'tgret going out and spending the night dancing in one of the famous clubs. https://goo.gl/maps/rA57EmmnptppSsEy8 My second channel:    / @driverelaxradio   Instagram:   / perceptionphilosophy   Recorded in 4k Perception Philosoph July 11, 2026 Czech Republic
