Ms. Hilliard is totally dedicated to her music, as well as committed to teaching it. Seeking to broaden her musical perspective, she plans a visit to her friend Herbert Benham, the conductor of the New York Symphony hoping to gain some new insights from him. But on her train ride, she bumps into the charming, and attractive Barry Clayton, who’s on his way north with his band. When he plays a trendy song for her, she’s so taken aback that she runs off, as her academic background has not equipped her to appreciate such music.
