Villagers from Nakati village, located in the Dharsiwan development block of the Raipur Lok Sabha constituency, reached the residence of MP Brijmohan Agrawal, pleading for the safety of their homes. The villagers allege that the administration has issued eviction notices to vacate their homes for the proposed MLA Colony project by the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, leaving dozens of poor families facing the threat of homelessness. According to reports, the Housing Board has prepared a proposal to develop a new MLA Colony on approximately 15.47 hectares of land in Nakati village. Approximately 85 families in the village have been issued eviction notices due to this project. Nakati village is considered a crucial area due to its location along the VIP road between Raipur and Nawa Raipur and near the airport. After meeting with the villagers, MP Brijmohan Agrawal took immediate cognizance of the matter. He directed the local SDM to ensure that no poor people's homes are demolished and to halt the process until the matter is resolved. The MP has also written to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai in this regard, requesting that other available government land be selected for the construction of the MLA colony, so that the homes of poor families can remain safe. The villagers say that they are not opposed to development, but that displacing families who have lived there for years in the name of development is unfair. All eyes are now on the administration and the state government's next decision on this matter.
