Extendidos atrás en una sola clase!

Back extensions are one of the exercises I most enjoy teaching from scratch, because it's a challenge as a coach to generate that extended and hollowed-out body posture in gymnasts. The reality is that the body naturally tends to bunch up, pull, or pike during a rotation, and overcoming that instinct requires a lot of patience, understanding, and methodical approach from the coach. If, as a coach, you're frustrated that your gymnasts' position in the air isn't correct, you'll probably have to go back to the basic postural principles of physical preparation and break the exercise down even further so they understand all its parts! We definitely wish all gymnasts were small and light so we could lift them and work them the way we want, but that's not the reality for all groups. Therefore, we'll have to use support equipment and safe spotting techniques for the coach that achieve and ensure the desired technique. It might take a little more time for the larger gymnasts, but rest assured that they will achieve it with work and perseverance. I want to emphasize that technique isn't magic if the gymnast has little interest in learning, and I want to stress even more that hard work isn't enough if the gymnast doesn't trust their coach or themselves (fear). This is a combination of everything! Technique, methodology, hard work, and courage! I'm sharing 15 technique exercises that cover all the variations of an extended somersault. These exercises helped me teach the full somersault in a single class, starting from scratch! I invite you to share and comment on my video so I can continue creating material that motivates us all to keep teaching this wonderful sport!
