ELCSA TCP – 2nd Sunday after Pentecost – Pulana Mokwele – 7 June 2026

Join us for worship at ELCSA Tshwane City Parish on the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost as we continue our journey through the Season of Pentecost, a time in which the Holy Spirit nurtures and strengthens the Church to live faithfully as the people of God. Having been empowered by the Spirit, we are called to embody Christ’s compassion, extend His mercy, and walk confidently in the new life He has given us. In the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 9:9–13, 18–26, Jesus calls Matthew, the tax collector, to follow Him, demonstrating that God's grace reaches beyond human expectations and social boundaries. Christ declares, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice,” revealing that the heart of God's kingdom is not self-righteousness but His abundant compassion for sinners. The Gospel continues with the account of a woman healed through faith and the raising of a ruler’s daughter, reminding us that the presence of Jesus brings healing where there is brokenness, hope where there is despair, and life where death seems to have the final word. Through the proclamation of the Word by Pulana Mokwele, we are invited to reflect on God's boundless mercy, renew our confidence in Christ’s healing power, and embrace our calling to follow Him with faithful hearts, extending His love and compassion to all whom we encounter.
