Hammer: https://amzn.to/2FqkHlJ A hammer, most of us have one in the house so you don’t have to go out and buy any special tools. Most important thing, make sure the head of the hammer is not loose, it should be tight. Otherwise, it could fly off and hit you. It’s not worth getting hurt over a coconut. When you buy a coconut, shake it and you’ll hear coconut water, if you don’t hear anything don’t buy it because the coconut has dried up. The coconut should feel heavy, if it’s light, it has dried up. This type of coconut is what you find in most stores and has a hard shell to remove. Remove the larger fibers outside so there’s less of a mess when you crack it. Wash the coconut. Put a clean bowl in your sink. Hold the coconut with one hand horizontally and hit it in the middle with a hammer. Keep moving the coconut and hitting it. You’ll see a hairline crack, few more hits and all the coconut water comes out. Smell it, it should smell clean. If it’s rancid, you’ll smell it and it goes in the compost pile.
