Dharma Outline🌱13-3 If you frequently have nightmares, your sinful karma will be triggered

(English Subtitles) Lectured by Master Jìng Jiè (淨界法師) from Taiwan. 如果你經常做惡夢,那就表示你的罪業要被激發了佛法修學概要 Subtitles: 【144】什麼樣的業容易導致隨業往生? 從今生的角度來看,我們今生造了很多的業,那麼到底什麼業會被激發出來,臨命終就很重要了。臨命終是業力激發的時候,過去和今生的業一并激發。這個業力的激發有兩種:第一種,我們叫做隨業往生。這個部分唯識學講得很多。一般來說,你今生有某些重大的業力,不管是善業惡業,臨終時容易隨業往生。就是你有一個強大的業力,這個業力要表現時,會先有花報。 [144] What kind of karma is likely to lead to rebirth in accordance with one’s karma? From the perspective of this life, we create a lot of karma in this lifetime, so the time of death is crucial in determining which karma will be activated. The time of death is when both past and present karma are activated. There are two types of karmic activation: The first type is called rebirth according to karma. This is discussed extensively in Yogacara(Consciousness-Only) school. Generally speaking, if you have certain significant karma in this life, whether good or bad, you are more likely to be reborn according to karma at the time of death. That is, if you have strong karma, when this karma is about to manifest, there will first be a flower result. 1:00 就如水果要長出來,它會先開花。在唯識學上說,如果你臨命終時經常做夢,夢到黑暗,夢到恐怖,經常有東西來恐怖你、遇到種種的痛苦,那就表示你的罪業要被激發了,因為業要出現之前是有徵兆的。 Just as a fruit needs to bloom before it can grow. According to Yogacara(Consciousness-Only) school, if you frequently dream of darkness and terror, and are often frightened by things, encountering various kinds of suffering, it means that your sinful karma are about to be activated, because there are signs before karma manifests. 山雨欲來風滿樓,你看到那個風一直吹,就是暴風雨要來了,它有徵兆的。業力的表現也是這樣。你看到一個臨命終的人,整天就覺得很冰冷,你給他蓋棉被也蓋不暖,按照經論的說法,他即將要墮入火燒地獄了,因為他全身冰冷,臨終時看到火燒的東西,他才會撲過去,會愛取。 The wind is howling in the building before the downpour. If you see the wind blowing continuously, it means a storm is coming. There are signs. The manifestation of karma is similar. If you see a dying person who feels constantly cold, even covering with a blanket won't warm him up. According to scriptures, they are about to fall into the fiery hell. Because their body is so cold, they will pounce on burning objects at their deathbed and cling to them. 2:00 有些人臨命終時,全身發熱,你拿冰塊給他冰也沒有用,這個人即將墮入寒冰地獄了,全身發熱這是一種徵兆。 Some people, when they are dying, have a fever all over their body, and giving them ice is useless. This person is about to fall into the icy hell, and the fever is a sign. 所以隨業往生的情況,大部分都是過去生造的業,而且今生造了重大的業力,這個業力被激發了。業力要激發之前,它會有很多的恐怖不安、痛苦的徵兆籠罩你的身心世界。這個就是我們一般說的隨業往生,它會躁動不安。 So, the cases of rebirth according to karma involve significant karma created in past lives, and even more so in this life, where karma has been activated. Before this karma is activated, many signs of terror, anxiety, and suffering will overwhelm your mind and body. This is what we generally refer to as rebirth according to karma, characterized by restlessness and unease. 【145】淨土宗怎樣才能做到隨念往生? [145] How can Pure Land Buddhist achieve rebirth successfully through mindfulness? 第二種情況就是隨念往生,這是我們淨土宗最期待的。就是說,我們今生造了善業,也造了罪業,但是業都不重,平常也在懺悔,也不斷地對治,這時就有充分的時間培養你的念頭, The second scenario is rebirth in the Bliss World through mindfulness, which is what we Pure Land Sect most anticipate. This means that in this life, we have created both good and bad karma, but none of it is heavy. We regularly repent and constantly work to counteract negative karma. At this time, you have ample time to cultivate your mindfulness of rebirth, 3:00 用念力來引導業力,就是隨念往生。 由你往生的一種信願的念力,來主導你的生命,由念力來主導你平常念佛的業力,把那個念佛業力調動出來,但是關鍵是正念要先現前。 using the force of mindfulness to guide your karma—this is rebirth through mindfulness. It is the force of your faith and vow for rebirth that guides your life and the karma of your daily recitation of Buddha, bringing that karma to life. But the key is that right mindfulness must be present first. 諸位要知道,淨土宗,要少造罪業,因為你拼的是隨念往生。唯識學上說,一個人業力太重,臨命終時,幾乎是馬上投胎的,連中陰身都沒有,連助念、提起正念的時間都來不及,那個業太強了。所以我們一定要爭取時間,讓自己培養正念。 You should all know that in Pure Land Buddhism, we should minimize the creation of sinful karma, because you are striving for rebirth in the Bliss World through mindfulness. The Yogacara school says that if a person's bad karma is too heavy, they are reborn almost immediately upon death, without even an intermediate state (bardo). There won't even be time for helping chants or bringing up mindfulness because that karma is too strong. So we must make the most of our time to cultivate right mindfulness. 4:00 不能造太大的業,因為造太大的業力,牽引的力量太強,連提起正念的時間都沒有,就去投胎了,怎麼隨念往生? You cannot create too much bad karma because the force of such karma is too strong to bring up the right mindfulness. How can you be reborn in the Bliss World through mindfulness?
