Backgammon: The Rack and The Anchor (Lesson 56)
In today's lesson, we look at (what I like to call) a few "rack and anchor" positions. Hopefully some patterns emerge and this improves your play. Thanks for watching. "The Rack" is a term coined by Bill Robertie for when the 6-5-4 points are made in a home board. It is the strongest three-point board you can have. Why is the Rack formation so strong? Opponent only has 27 entering rolls with one checker on bar, or 9 entering rolls bringing two checking back into play You can make bolder plays and take more calculated risks Your opponent will be forced to playing more carefully, or at least be faced with a difficult decision over the board Cube access is enhanced, particularly when you have shots Check out my playlist for other videos with my guests :) Related material: Freezing Checkers (Lesson 12) • Backgammon: Freezing Checkers (Lesson 12)
