The biggest challenge in large-scale residences is never about creating extravagance, but rather about maintaining a sense of "warmth of home" within a spacious setting. This is a "relaxed vacation home for three generations" planned from the ground up. It serves as a comfortable home for parents during the week and a haven for the whole family on weekends. When designing this project, the design director of Shigongfen Design broke away from the traditional framework of defining large homes by style, focusing instead on the core concept of "distance between people." In this video, we'll guide you through the design philosophy behind this space: ▪️ The Art of Neglect in the Entrance Hall: Instead of rushing to fill it with storage, it provides a calming transition upon returning home. ▪️ The Golden Triangle of Public Areas: Breaking down the sense of isolation that can easily arise in large spaces, the living room, island, and dining table are integrated, allowing family members to naturally converse even in their respective corners. ▪️ Restrained Lighting: Abandoning a glaring main light fixture, linear lighting and indirect illumination are used to subtly highlight the texture of materials, creating an extremely relaxing atmosphere. ▪️ Independence and togetherness in the private sphere: A three-suite layout perfectly balances the privacy and companionship needs of three generations. This isn't a space that immediately strikes you as ostentatious, but it's pleasing to the eye, calming, and grows more charming with time.
