Tesla Model Y Repair: The App Got It Completely Wrong

The front fascia camera on my new Tesla Model Y was shattered, but Tesla’s app classified the camera repair as collision damage and directed me to a collision center in Owings Mills, Maryland—with an appointment more than a month away. I submitted the Tesla service request several times and clearly explained that there was no bumper or fascia damage. I also tried calling Tesla support and the local service center, but every path sent me back into the same automated process. So I finally did it the old-school way: I drove to the Tesla Service Center in Sterling, Virginia, walked inside, and talked to an actual person. The result could not have been more different. Within minutes, Tesla determined that this could be handled through normal service. They scheduled a mobile-service appointment at my house within days, told me I didn’t need to be home, and confirmed that the camera replacement would be covered under warranty at no cost. The Tesla app experience was incredibly frustrating. The actual Tesla service experience was fantastic. Sometimes it pays to stop fighting the automation and talk to a human. Have you ever had the Tesla app send you down the wrong service path? Let me know in the comments. #Tesla #TeslaModelY #TeslaService
