They followed LiDAR scans into the Mosquitia region of eastern Honduras and confirmed real archaeological features under the rainforest canopy: plazas, mounds, earthworks, settlement areas, and a cache of stone objects, including animal figures and the famous human-jaguar form tied to the Valley of the Jaguar. Then several expedition members came home sick. The old legend said the White City carried a curse.
