UMKHANYAKUDE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY - OPERATION SUKUMA SAKHE

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, lead Members of the Executive Council (MECs) to the uMkhanyakude District Municipality as part of the provincial government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing service delivery. This engagement forms part of Operation Sukuma Sakhe Cabinet Day, a strategic platform aimed at fostering direct interaction between government leadership and communities. Through this initiative, citizens are afforded the opportunity to raise concerns and receive updates on service delivery matters from the Honourable Premier, MECs, and senior government officials. The Honourable Premier and MECs will undertake oversight visits across various wards within the uMkhanyakude District Municipality. These visits will focus on assessing the progress of government programmes, inspecting community development initiatives, and engaging directly with residents and service providers on the ground. A public engagement session will also be convened, during which community members will be invited to voice their concerns regarding service delivery challenges and social issues affecting their communities. Provincial leadership will respond to these concerns and outline government interventions aimed at addressing the identified issues.
