We're Taking Our Kids to All 63 National Parks

Thirteen years ago I took my 22-month-old son to a national park just to get him out of the house. It turned into a mission to visit all 63. Our kids have now been to 52 U.S. national parks — our son started before he was 2, and our daughter wasn't far behind. This is the story of how A Wild Legacy began, and the 11 parks we have left. From the geysers of Yellowstone to the rim of the Grand Canyon, whale-watching in Glacier Bay, chartering a bush plane above the Arctic Circle, and a three-hour drive to Bryce Canyon we had to turn around on (the kids didn't put their shoes on) — this is 13 years and 52 parks in one family's journey to all 63. The mission: both kids complete every U.S. national park. Colton before he leaves for college in 2029 — then Dakota goes back for the five she was too young to remember.
