Wading a Stunning New River (Scouting & Exploring for Smallmouth)

I took a 50-minute drive out into the countryside to scout a brand-new, rural river—and wow, did it deliver on scenery! It was a hot, sunny afternoon, but the winding, rocky river layout was absolutely beautiful and incredibly quiet. Armed with some Nikko hellgrammite plastics, I waded out to see what was hiding in these deeper pools. While I didn't find any monsters on this first trip, I managed to pull out some hard-fighting river smallmouth and aggressive rock bass. Finding untouched, scenic water like this is exactly why I love river fishing. I barely scratched the surface of this spot, and I cannot wait to go back and explore further down the current! 🎣 Gear Used in this Video: Rod: Shimano Zodias 6'9" ML Fast Reel: Shimano 24 Vanford C2500SXG Lures: Nikko Hellgrammite (Obsidian) & Nikko Craw (Mudbug) 6/29/26 #SmallmouthBass #RiverFishing #Wading #FishOhio #CatchAndRelease #AdventureFishing
