Moel-y-Gaer, Bodfari, a small hillfort in the Clwydians, Denbighshire - Prof. Gary Lock
Our fourth Winter Lecture for our 2021-22 season came from Prof. Gary Lock, Emeritus Professor at the University of Oxford. Gary presented on his excavations of the 2010s as part of the Heather and Hillforts Project at Moel y Gaer, Bodfari, in the Clwydian range that runs along the Denbighshire - Flintshire border. He unpicks the multiple "phases" of the hillfort revealed through excavation, and reveals new radiocarbon dates. These will all be published in Archaeopress this summer (2022) which we look forward to reading when it comes out.
