For several hours, we battled our way through one of the most massive bunker complexes in the Alps. Climbing dilapidated stairs, secured only by ropes, we reached areas rarely seen by the public. Deep inside the mountain, we discovered endless tunnels, old machine gun emplacements, enormous gun positions, and the longest staircase in the entire complex, with an incredible 268 steps. Opera 10 is one of the most impressive structures of the Alpine Wall. This former World War II defense system conceals kilometers of tunnels, massive concrete structures, and fascinating history deep beneath the Alps.
