Parramatta Garbage

We are back in Parramatta for this week's upload... it's been over 4 years since I posted the original footage from this council! This video gives you a look at another of the garbage trucks which was previously used by Cleanaway, being another old Compaction Systems side loader. We see truck SL454 (previously numbered as 303) servicing the suburb of North Parramatta early Wednesday morning, a matter of months before it finished duties. When the last contract was originally awarded, there wasn't enough time to get a whole new fleet of trucks ready to go for the day of commencement, so the initial trucks were sourced second hand. Then in 2007 a number of new one armers came through for the recycling and green-waste, but the oldies for garbage continued working. Most of the old garbage trucks were Sidepaks like the one in the video, but there were also a few old MacDonald Johnstons. The contract which these trucks were used in has ended and now Cleanaway runs many Dennis side loaders for all the collections. Part of the video is based close to the CBD and the other part in the residential areas to the east, also mostly taken outside units or townhouses where there are groups of 140Ls. I included a few tripod shots too for a couple of lines of bins - much tidier action compared to my initial Parramatta videos after looking back. Thanks to the driver for letting me take some clips; a very good operator who doesn't thrash his truck, but I'm sure these units were on their last legs anyway.
