Transitioning to OVERNIGHT SHIFTS in FAMILY MEDICINE

One of the hardest parts of switching from day shifts to night shifts is the transition. I think there are definitely some great ways to make the transition from days to nights easier. Personally, I like to stay up all night and pull as close to a 24hour as I can so that I can reset my circadian rhythm. Some tips on how to stay up all night and sleep late into the day time include- watching silly movies, filming YouTube videos ( haha ), and then setting yourself up for success by preparing a nightshift-friendly bedroom. 3 things I find helpful are - having a weighted blanket, blackout curtains, and white noise machine playing rain music. I personally like to sleep in the cold so I try to keep the temperature as optimally cool as I can stand. Hope you enjoy this video and that its helpful! Here's a super glamorous look into how I transition from day shifts to night shifts on inpatient family medicine service. 👣 Follow for more: Instagram: @Zeel Shah MD Twitter: @Zeel Shah MD Website: www.zeelshahmd.com For editing inquiries: [email protected] For business inquiries: [email protected]
