Inside The Greenhouse Hotel, Iceland’s adventure hotel
Come with us to the Greenhouse Hotel in HVERAGERDI ICELAND as we continue our quest to find Iceland's best boutique hotels, and Iceland’s most unique activities. If you love the outdoors and want to be at the doorstep of multiple activities - this may be the perfect Iceland hotel for you. We’ll show the architecture and charms of this hotel - and this small town - and give you a taste of some of the great activities this area has to offer. BOOK YOUR STAY HERE AND SEE BELOW WHY YOU CAN TRUST US: https://www.booking.com/hotel/is/the-... This is one of those hotels where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts: it’s the vibe, the quirky design, the great bar and restaurant, all the local activities and the setting that come together for a special hotel experience that I really enjoyed. Hveragerdi is about an hour and 15 minutes from the international airport and 45 minutes from Reykjavik, and just right down the street from the hotel is Iceland's largest swimming pool. The rooms here are not fancy - but mine was very comfortable and there are thoughtful interior design touches throughout. At the Swank Guide we always try to include at least one affordable hidden gem on our list of hotel recommendations, and the Greenhouse Hotel fits that description…we think most design enthusiasts would be pretty happy here. Not only are the hotel's public spaces comfortable and inviting - but there are quirky retro design touches that are a great contrast to the more modern steel, glass and concrete architecture in the rest of the hotel. The bar/restaurant is a gathering spot for this town. The people - the music - the vibe - all come together to make for a special space. When it comes to food, this place wins the Swank Guide award in Iceland for the best food variety - there’s fish n chips, Japanese style burgers, old fashioned burgers, Chinese and yummy Mexican. For breakfast, the hotel has a charming cafe with excellent coffee and bites. THE ACTIVITIES Only a 5 minute drive from the hotel is a cozy cafe - that the hotel runs - and you can use the cafe as the base for hiking or mountain biking. I tried mountain biking with the friendly folks from Ice Bikes these guys rent electric mountain bikes and the guides group you based on your level of mountain biking experience, their website is here: https://icebikeadventures.com/about/h... There are also a series of hiking trails that start right outside the cafe. All along the trail you see steam vents and steaming streams. From the trailhead it’s just over 30 minutes to a small waterfall - then walk another 30 min or so and you are at a natural hot spring. BE CAREFUL AROUND HOT SPRINGS AND ANY STEAM VENTS - DON'T GO IN OR NEAR UNLESS YOU ARE SURE THEY ARE SAFE. I also went to Black Sand Beach, about 20 mins away - another adventure that the hotel can arrange for you. Black Beach Tours offers ATV tours of the sand dunes and beaches in the area - and just like Icebikes - these tour operators are knowledgeable, friendly and made the whole outing a lot of fun. Their website is here: https://blackbeachtours.is/atv-quad-t... Here’s a link to a free PDF for this that goes along with this video: https://swankguide.com/greenhouse-hot... Why should you trust us?
