How to exchange a roller shutter strap winder

This video will show you how to exchange a roller shutter strap winder / coiler yourself. For more videos about roller shutters visit my Chanel!    / martinsunprotection   This video will show you how to exchange the strap winder of a roller shutter. First you have to lower the shutter all the way to take the weight off the strap. Now undo the screws in the face plate of the strap winder and take it out of the cavity. Then pull the left over strap off the spring drum. In this case the strap is fixed to the spring drum by a screw. sometimes but, it is wedged on or simply attached to a hook on the spring drum. Make sure you grip the sting drum tight when undoing the strap because the drum is under maximum spring tension now. Which bears a high risk of injury! The safest is to slowly relief the tension on the drum, sometimes though a hook is mounted on the drum, to block the spring coil inside the drum. Make sure the strap is not twisted before feeding the strap into the new winder. Now feed the strap under the brake flap into the winder. Wrap the strap around the spring drum once before you attach it to the drum. This way you can not accidentally pull the strap off the spring drum. Once the strap is attached simply pull it a little. Now you should be able to easily undo the hook blocking the spring load. Simply squeeze it down onto the spring drum. Finally screw the strap winder back in its cavity and do a test run. During the test run you should pay attention wether you can lower and rise the roller shutter completely and on the strap not being tangled.
