AMERICAN GIRLHOOD | a stop-motion short film (AGSM)

This is a short film I created for my Honors Thesis research project. I am so proud of this project and am grateful for the opportunity to conduct creative research!! And I am so happy to say that this thesis won the Excellence in Research Award for honors theses, as well as first place in the Gender, Sexuality, and Identity category at my university's Undergraduate Research Symposium!! - This video is dedicated to the transgender community. Never stop being yourself; it is beautiful to be trans, and it is such a gift to know yourself and become the person you have always wanted to be. My heart goes out to all trans people in America: it is a difficult time right now, but we will get through this. In the very least, at the individual level, we have the power to create art and impact others, and that is something that no one can take away. - I love AGTube—this community genuinely changed my life at age nine, inspiring me to use my favorite dolls as a creative outlet. I was able to turn doll play stories into (albeit loose and convoluted) scripts, and over time, I learned how to make better stop motions. As I grew up, this community continued to be a way for me to create art and connect with others online who shared the same interests as me. It saddens me that AGTube has been shrinking smaller and smaller over the last few years, but I am grateful for all of the memories I've made on here and the endless creativity you all have shown.
