First announced during a video stream in 2013 as a new Zelda for Wii U, taking a new direction and with a 2015 release date, and shown for the first time at E3 2014, this new entry in "The Legend of Zelda" series, conceived by Nintendo's mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto and already in production by Eiji Aunuma, went through quite a lot. Delayed multiple times, dedicated to Nintendo's entire E3 2016 and revealed as "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," briefly announced for the launch of the successor console "Nintendo Switch" on March 3, 2017, and repeatedly highlighted at the Game Awards, fans had to wait five years after "Zelda: Skyward Sword" for a new 3D Zelda game. In return, they got a massive open world, unparalleled freedom, voice acting, a crafting system, survival elements, and a 98% critical acclaim.
