Inland Alicante boasts a series of mountain villages that make up the so-called "Route 99." Among them is Castell de Castells, located in the Marina Alta region of Alicante, between Alcoy, Denise, and Benidorm. Just 4 km away are the cave paintings of the Pla de Petracos Sanctuary, about which we made an explanatory video, and other villages such as Benigembla and Famorca. Castell de Castells is a small village with 450 inhabitants, but with a special charm that permeates its streets and beautiful corners. MONUMENTS AND PLACES OF INTEREST Pla de Petracos Sanctuary. The Pla de Petracos cave art site is located approximately 500 meters above sea level, on the left bank of the Barranc de Malafí ravine. Discovered in 1980 by members of the Centre d'estudis Contestans, it comprises eight rock shelters, five of which feature clearly visible painted motifs. It has been declared a World Heritage Site. Parish Church of Santa Ana. A building of architectural interest. El Castellet. A 20,000 m² campsite. Located 5 minutes from the municipal swimming pool, it offers panoramic views of diverse landscapes, including the remains of the Moorish castle situated atop Peña del Castellet, from which it takes its name. A hiking trail leads from the campsite to the castle ruins. Recreational area at Bancal Blanco.
