I’ve Never Used a CNC Before… This Is What I Built with the Carvera Desktop-CNC

I tried CNC machining for the very first time — using the Carvera Desktop CNC by Makera — and ended up machining real aluminum fixtures and even a brass watch dial. The Carvera is a compact desktop CNC mill with surprisingly high precision and a very beginner-friendly workflow, featuring automatic tool changing, probing, built-in dust collection, a diode laser and an optional 4th-axis module. In this video, I walk you through my entire process as a complete CNC beginner — from my very first test cut, to machining aluminum fixtures for my laser, all the way to creating a two-piece brass watch dial with engraved details. I also share my honest thoughts on the machine’s strengths, limitations, and how it performs in real-world watchmaking and prototyping applications. Whether you’re interested in desktop CNC machining, making watch parts, or you’re just curious what a beginner can achieve with a machine like this — this video shows exactly what’s possible. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makera has just launched their final Holiday Sale of 2025 with huge savings!
