East Farleigh Level Crossing, Kent

Date(s) filmed: Monday the 30th of March / Thursday the 2nd of April 2026 Route: Medway Valley Line East Farleigh (EFL) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing (MCB) Filming location: Farleigh Lane, East Farleigh (ME16 9NB) A level crossing located in between the staggered platforms of East Farleigh Station beside the River Medway, controlled from the listed East Farleigh Signal Box which stands next to it. To lower the crossing, the signaller needs to use the panel next to the crossing due to pillars obscuring their view, although there is a separate panel to raise the barriers once trains have passed within. This crossing once had manual gates, but lost those to a full renewal in 2019 which was long overdue as this was a dangerous crossing to work gates manually at.
