Friends, today we have reached the historical city of Narnaul. Narnaul is a town in the Mahendragarh district of Haryana state in India. It is about 30 kilometers from Mahendragarh. It is also the headquarters of Mahendragarh district. Narnaul is also famous for its historical tourist sites. Its vehicle registration code is HR35. There is no authentic information regarding the history and naming of Narnaul. According to the Bhagavata Purana, it was called Nandigram and was known as Rashtra during the Mahabharata period. It is also believed that this area was once covered with a forest and was a habitat for lions. The city was established here after clearing the forest, hence the name Naharnaul, which later became Narnaul. Mughal Emperor Babur, in his book Tuzk-e-Babri, mentions the existence of a cotton market here, indicating that cotton was cultivated here. Rajputs ruled the region for the first two decades of the 12th century. After the Second Battle of Panipat, this area came under Akbar's control. He granted it to Shah Kuli Khan as a reward for capturing Emperor Hamid. Thus, Shah Kuli Khan became the Jagirdar of the region, who commissioned the construction of the Jal Mahal in Narnaul. The Jal Mahal was built between 1590 and 1591 AD by Shah Kuli Khan, who served as the governor of Narnaul during Emperor Akbar's reign from 1556 to 1605 AD. Built approximately 450 years ago, the Jal Mahal sits in the middle of a body of water. Shah Kuli Khan used the Jal Mahal for his leisure and recreation. Its main entrance faces north. When you view the Jal Mahal from the front, you'll see a large arch. Two smaller arches flank the Jal Mahal on its right and left sides. Its distinctive feature is that from the outside, it appears to be a two-story building. Four Kshatriyas are carved at its four corners, and a large chhatri (umbrella) is placed in the center, further enhancing its beauty. An inscription above the main entrance indicates that it was built by Shah Quli Khan approximately four hundred and fifty years ago. After visiting the Jal Mahal, we now arrive at Chor Gumbad. Speaking of Chor Gumbad, it was built by the Afghan Jamal Khan as a tomb. The small dome and arches indicate that it was likely constructed during the reign of Firoz Shah Tughlaq from 1351 to 1388 AD. From the front, it appears to be a two-story building with five double-arched arches. Looking a little higher, you'll see a hemispherical dome. Two pillars and Bhuj are also visible on the right side. The entire Puri building is square in shape, with every corner identical and built in the Indo-Islamic style. In ancient times, it was located just outside the city. It was believed to be a dense forest and a lion's den. Later, thieves and robbers also made their home here. Hence, the name Chor Gumbad. After visiting Chor Gumbad, you can visit Birbal's Chhata, located nearby, at Mahavir Chowk. Birbal's Chhata is a historic building in Narnaul, built by Rai-e-Rayan Mukund Das during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Its original name was Balmukund's Chhata, which was later changed to Birbal's Chhata. It is a five-story building. It has several halls and rooms. After visiting Birbal's Chhata, you can visit the Khalda Hanuman Temple, located in Raghunathpur village. This Hanuman temple is nestled among beautiful hills. The Raghunathpur Firing Range is also located here. The Hanuman Temple is quite grand and beautiful. Free parking is available here, and there's also a prasad shop. There are also swings and other activities for children, as well as food and drinks. A beautiful park has also been built here where you can spend quality time, where you'll find swans and other birds. After visiting the Hanuman Temple, you can visit Dhosi Hill, another historical tourist destination in Narnaul. It's a beautiful hill. It's located in Kultajpur village, about 5 kilometers from Narnaul city.
