Inside the Foxhound light patrol vehicle - the army's replacement for the Snatch Landrover

The Telegraph has been given an exclusive look inside the Foxhound, the replacement for the Snatch Land Rover, by Andy North, chief defence engineer at Ricardo. The Snatch Land Rover came in for heavy criticism in Afghanistan as it left troops exposed to the explosives devices deployed by the enemy, and the vulnerability ultimately led some special forces soldiers to label the vehicle lethal to those inside and useless on operations. The Foxhound, designed jopintly by Formula 1 engineers Ricardo and Force Protection Europe, owned by US giant General Dynamics, has drawn on cutting edge engine technology along with British boat building know-how to develop a V-shaped armoured hull designed to safeguard those inside from roadside bombs.
