The Doors - "Palace In The Canyon" (Live in Dallas 1970)
The Doors performing "Palace In The Canyon" during their late show at State Fair Music Hall in Dallas, Texas on December 11, 1970. Until this audience recording surfaced, "Palace In The Canyon" was known only as an excerpt from one of Jim Morrison's poems and not as an unreleased song by The Doors. The song was also played during the band's final concert in New Orleans the following night. Silent 8mm home movie footage shot by actress Charlotte Stewart during her California road trip with Jim Morrison in late November 1970. In the film, the pair can be seen driving through La Conchita on Highway 101, followed by a visit to Hearst Castle in San Simeon, then traveling back through the Danish Village of Solvang in the Santa Ynez Valley, and finally past Cachuma Lake on Highway 154. "PALACE IN THE CANYON" LYRICS There's a palace in the canyon Where you and I were born Now I'm a lonely man Take me back into the garden Blue shadows of the canyon I met you and now you're gone And now my dream is gone Let me back into your garden A man searching for lost paradise Can seem a fool to those Who never sought the other world Where friends do lie and drift Insanely in their own In their own private gardens There's a palace in the canyon I met you and now you're gone And now my love is gone Let me back into your garden Blue shadows of the canyon I met you and now you're gone And now my love is gone Let me back into your garden #TheDoors #JimMorrison #PalaceInTheCanyon ---
