City of Sydney (Veolia)

Back during my old school holiday adventures, I managed to swing by a City of Sydney waste service zone when Veolia was still the collection contractor for the state’s capital city. Unfortunately, on that Tuesday morning in Glebe I only managed to find one of the big rear loaders collecting the garbage in a back lane. If I recall correctly, the recycling was already done in the area, which used to be a quick job with the old crate system. I don’t know exactly how many trucks Veolia used to handle the City of Sydney contract, but I’m sure there were a good few of these Compaction Systems rear loaders which did at least the weekly garbage pick-up. I also know of two much smaller Mitsubishi rear loaders with the same body which no doubt did tight access (and today are used for Veolia’s C&I work). I’m sure the company ran some big rear loaders for the paper and cardboard and I bet they used those special Collex kerb-sort trucks for bottles and containers much like they did in Botany Bay and Woollahra. Anyway nothing too spectacular in this video - we see the comb lifter along with pure muscle used to empty the bins with plenty of pack cycles.
