Day 2 of the Kurukshetra War. Bhishma had a plan, not to win the battle, but to break one man. Arjuna. Arrow by arrow, wound by wound, Bhishma dismantled the greatest archer alive. Not out of hatred. Out of love. Because he could see that Arjuna was holding back and a warrior who holds back on this battlefield will not survive it. Krishna watched. And for the first time in the war, his divine composure broke. He dropped the reins. He leapt from the chariot. He found a broken chariot wheel on the ground and picked it up, blazing with light in his hands and walked toward Bhishma. The battlefield went silent. Four hundred thousand warriors stopped fighting. Bhishma lowered his bow and folded his hands. And Arjuna wounded, bleeding ran after his god and grabbed his arm. "You vowed not to fight. If you break that vow, what holds? What stands?" Krishna stopped. He set the wheel down. And Arjuna picked up his bow, this time, without holding back.
