I Knew This Seiko Monaco Was Going to Be a Challenge... But Then It Got Worse!

In this restoration, I take on a Seiko 7016-5011, better known as the Seiko Monaco, and quickly find out that this watch has a lot more going on than the rough exterior suggests. The dial is ruined, the case has lost its sharp geometry, the movement is not running, and one of the keyless works parts, the lever for unlocking the stem, has rusted in half. Since I could not find a replacement, I had to fabricate the missing part from scratch. And that was only the beginning. This restoration includes a missing lower jewel for the third wheel, a tilted hairspring, excessive barrel side shake, escape wheel jewel adjustment, pallet fork engagement correction, pallet stone adjustment for excessive drop lock and slide, pallet fork endshake correction, case welding, grinding, lapping, polishing, replacement dial, date dial, day disk, crystal, and a new old stock Complete Barrel with Arbor and Mainspring for good measure.
