Hutsul and sheep are the basis of our life, there is nothing else to do in the mountains. Now sheep breeding is declining, and people are leaving for work. Each flock on the Carpathian mountain ranges is guarded by shepherd dogs, during the day they help drive the flock, and at night they protect it from wolves. And the dogs should also look like sheep, such a similarity is necessary in order to disorient the wild beast. A shepherd dog is trained from an early age to guard the flock. Recently, in the village of Stebnyi, hunters caught and killed a wolf that was disturbing the villagers. Sheep are a unique animal, as they provide wool, milk, meat, and skin. But such a large number of sheep need to be well fed. 60 heads require approximately 3 tons of hay for the winter, which the Hutsuls harvest on their own. It is a pity, says the man, that young people are not very keen on sheep breeding. And he would really like to pass on all his experience and skills to someone. Mr. Onufry also has a collection of bells. In the spring, when the sheep go to the mountain pasture, they put a bell on each sheep so that it does not get lost.
