Japanese Week in London 🇯🇵 | Day 4: Tate Britain, River Boat & Hurvin Anderson

Day four began, as usual, with an early run, although this morning it was so hot that I decided to keep it short. After a shower, I headed off to class wearing my wonderful new lipstick, Frances, named after my dear friend. It felt like the perfect choice today. Another morning of Japanese, and I’m genuinely surprised by how much more confident I feel compared with last summer. I’m understanding so much more, and although there’s still plenty to learn, I’m really enjoying the challenge. After class, I escaped the baking London heat by taking the boat from Embankment to Tate Britain. I’d never made the journey by river before, and it ended up being one of my favourite moments of the day. Such a peaceful way to travel across the city. My main reason for visiting Tate Britain was the Hurvin Anderson exhibition, one I’d been looking forward to for a while. The gallery was wonderfully cool and surprisingly quiet, but for whatever reason, the paintings just didn’t connect with me today. Whether it was the heat, tiredness, or the fact that my mind keeps drifting back to my friend, I honestly don’t know. Sometimes an exhibition simply doesn’t meet you where you are, and that’s okay. I also popped into the Whistler exhibition, which looks fantastic, but I just didn’t have the energy to film it properly today. Rather than rush through it, I’ve decided I’ll come back another day when I can give it the attention it deserves. After another relaxing boat trip back into central London, I wandered through Covent Garden in search of a Japanese treat. I found the place I’d planned to visit… then looked at the menu and realised I didn’t actually fancy anything! Instead, I did what felt right in 30-degree heat and treated myself to a proper Mr Whippy ice cream, in a cup of course. I’m definitely not a cone person. The evening has been much quieter. Back at the hotel, I’ve been catching up on my Japanese homework, editing today’s vlog, and trying my best to cool down. London has been unbelievably hot this week, and I have to admit I’m finding it pretty relentless. Not every travel day has to be packed with highlights. Sometimes it’s enough just to keep learning, keep exploring, and listen when your body tells you it’s time to slow down
