Is Coriolis force the same in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres? Does the hemisphere make a difference? Yes and no. The rising air is always deflected towards the West whereas the horizontal motion is deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere. Eastward moving air is always deflected upwards.
