🥟🌿Traditional Chana Dal Fara Recipe | Healthy & Delicious Indian Snack!

Welcome back to the channel! Today, we are making a incredibly delicious and healthy traditional Indian snack: Chana Dal Fara (also known as Bhakoza or Dal Pitha). These savory, stuffed wheat dumplings are packed with a spicy, protein-rich lentil filling, boiled to perfection, and finished with a crispy, flavorful tadka (tempering). ​It is the perfect wholesome breakfast, lunchbox meal, or evening snack to enjoy with a cup of chai! ☕ ​Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE if you enjoyed this recipe! Let me know down below what chutney you would pair this with. 👇 ​🛒 Ingredients You'll Need: ​For the Dal Stuffing: ​Soaked Chana Dal (Split Chickpea Lentils) ​Fresh Garlic Cloves ​Green Chilies ​Salt (to taste) ​A little oil or water (for mixing) ​For the Outer Covering (Dough): ​Whole Wheat Flour (Atta). ​Salt (to taste) ​Water (for kneading) ​For Boiling & Final Tempering (Tadka): ​Oil ​Cumin Seeds (Jeera) ​Mustard Seeds (Rai) ​Fresh Curry Leaves ​Green Chilies (slit or chopped) ​Fresh Coriander Leaves (for garnish) ​👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions: ​1. Prepare the Spicy Dal Stuffing Add your soaked chana dal, garlic cloves, and green chilies to a mixer grinder. Grind it into a thick, coarse paste. Transfer to a bowl, add salt, and a dash of oil, and mix well. Set aside. ​2. Knead the Dough In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour with a little salt. Gradually add water and knead it into a smooth, firm dough (similar to roti dough). ​3. Flavor the Boiling Water In a small tadka pan, heat a little oil and add cumin seeds. Pour this tempering directly into a large pot of boiling water. This infuses the water with flavor so the dough doesn't taste plain! ​4. Shape & Stuff the Fara Roll out a large portion of the dough into a flat circle. Use a round cutter (or a small bowl/glass) to cut out perfect mini circles (puris). Place a spoonful of the chana dal stuffing into the center of each circle and gently fold them in half like a taco or gujiya. ​5. Boil to Perfection Carefully drop the stuffed dumplings into the boiling, tempered water. Let them cook until they naturally float to the surface (this means they are done!). Remove them with a strainer and let them cool slightly. ​6. Cut & Pan-Fry (The Best Part!) Once cooled, chop the boiled Fara into bite-sized pieces. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fresh green chilies, and curry leaves. Toss the chopped Fara in this aromatic tadka and pan-fry until slightly golden and crispy on the edges. ​7. Garnish & Serve Finish with a generous sprinkle of freshly chopped coriander.
