NORTHEASTERN IMPROVISATION WITH VIOLA ==SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL== What do repentistas do? A repentista, according to the project, is someone who uses rhymed improvisation as a means of artistic expression, sung, spoken, or written, with compositions made immediately or by collecting compositions of anonymous origin or from popular tradition. Repent or cantoria is a poetic-musical art common in Northeastern Brazil and is characterized by the improvisation of stanzas, that is, by their composition at the moment of the presentation. Always singing in pairs, when improvising verses, repentistas dialogue with each other and with the listeners. What is the difference between a cordel poet and a repentista? Repent is performed by repentistas, and the poetry is staged in an improvised way and accompanied by musical instruments. Cordel literature, on the other hand, is created by cordel poets, disseminated in pamphlets, and elaborated through poetry.
