MIND WARS ARISE OUT OF THE ASHES - PART ONE 1. Don’t Wait Until Circumstances Change to Switch Your Thinking Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinks, he becomes. We cannot win if our problems are the biggest things in our thought lives. If we want deliverance from our problems today, we have to quit allowing negative, fearful thoughts to consume our minds. We are to cast down thoughts that challenge the Word and bring them into captivity to obey the words of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down arguments and every high thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2. Remember You Are Not Alone – You Have God’s Thoughts Joshua 1:8-9 Think about my word day and night, so you may be careful to do all that is written in it. Then all will go well with you. You will receive many good things and prosper and have good success. 9 Have I not told you? Be strong and have strength of heart! Do not be afraid or lose faith. For the Lord your God is with you anywhere you go. As we meditate in God’s Word it produces faith in us - God’s mind. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 3. Get Around People Who Are Full of Faith - They Are Precious 2 Peter 1:1 To those who have obtained like precious faith. Hebrews 3:12 Beware lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief. Satan uses fearful, unbelieving people to take you down with them. Matthew 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things (thoughts) of God, but the things (thoughts) of men.” God uses faith-filled people to build you up and to strengthen you. Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. 1 Peter 5:8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe (cursed) to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Hebrews 10:25 We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are in a bad habit of doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each as times get darker and the end gets nearer. 4. Praise God Over All Other Voices No Matter How You Feel Psalm 22:3 God inhabits the praises of his people. His presence will turn back those negative, unbelieving thoughts. Psalm 43:5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— For I shall yet praise Him. Psalm 34:1 I will praise Him at all times; I will constantly speak his praises. Isaiah 61:3 To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
