Benefit Concert on Behalf of Anton Kraft
Welcome to our BENEFIT CONCERT ON BEHALF OF ANTON KRAFT. Benefit concerts were a very important source of income for musicians in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. They were an opportunity for presenting themselves at a concert evening, curated by themselves. Other colleagues would normally take part in the performance, either in chamber music settings or even as accompaniment in virtuoso pieces. Thus, the idea behind this project is presenting a modern recreation of what a benefit concert on behalf of Anton Kraft might have been. In this case, it will count with the imaginary collaboration of his son Nikolaus Kraft and Ignaz Schuppanzigh, first violin of the string quartet under the same name where both Krafts acted as cellists.
