Not every dog is ready for therapy work but with the right energy, structure, and leadership, even the most misunderstood breeds can find purpose. In this episode of Better Human Better Dog, I work with two powerful stories connected by purpose, healing, and balance. When I meet Juice, a pit bull labeled as “aggressive,” I don’t see a bad dog. I see a dog with too much energy and no off switch. Living in a constant state of excitement creates instability, not calm. His owner, Moiny, wants him to become a therapy dog, but that requires control, not chaos. Through structure, timing, and clear leadership, Juice learns to access a calm state, giving his energy direction and purpose for the first time. At the same time, I meet the Mejia family, who are facing one of the toughest moments of their lives. Louie is waiting for a kidney transplant, and they’re searching for the right dog to support him through his journey. When they meet Charlie, something clicks.
