Viscas is a stone village nestled in the highlands of the Canta-Lima province in Peru. Its former inhabitants decided to leave and founded a new one called Bellavista. Despite this, the stone village refuses to be forgotten, and year after year its former residents return to celebrate their patron saint, Saint John the Baptist. Cattle ranchers come to Viscas seasonally, only to leave again after three months, returning to their new village. Undoubtedly, this place holds a rich history and ancestral heritage that remains largely unknown, and we must recover and value it.
