The next year, Sinclair bought River City Broadcasting, which owned ABC affiliate WSYX in the market. WTTE was then passed off to Glencairn, a company closely related to Sinclair and which would later become Cunningham Broadcasting—though Sinclair continued to operate WTTE through various service agreements. In 2021, as part of the introduction of ATSC 3.0 in the Columbus market, Sinclair moved WTTE's Fox programming and IP to WSYX 6.3, leaving WTTE to run the company's low-rent TBD feed, which is normally relegated to the subchannels of fellow Sinclair-owned/operated stations, on 28.1.
