Customize SAK Scales - with Nail Polish
If your Swiss army knife could use a little pizzazz, how about using nail polish to decorate the scales? If you want inexpensive, or even cheap(!) custom Swiss army knife scales without the cost or the wait, this might be a good choice for you. At least if you are using cellidor scales because I have not tested this on anything other than cellidor and I do not anticipate that it will work as well. It could be a fantastic project for kids to make beautiful SAK scales for their own SAK or as a gift o a parent. It's also a nice way to add some texture to your SAK. I think that this holds serious promise for making beautiful custom scales although I have not gotten to that point myself! The more artistic you are, or the more willing you are to try and fail, the more I think you should try this Swiss army knife customization project. If you are uncertain, especially if you are doing a knife the size of anything other than 91 or 58 mm, be sure that you are going to be able to get replacement scales, because once the nail polish goes on it does not come off. Both regular and gel polish add color and texture to your Swiss army knife scales. Gel nail Polish needs to be baked under a UV light which comes in some kits and is readily available in stores or from Amazon. I have links below to some of the nail polishes I used on Swiss army knife scales in this video, but really your least expensive option is going to be finding some nail polish that is readily available, maybe in your house, if it is in a color you like. If you liked the specific color that I used on the Super Tinker in this video, here's a link to it below. This is actually less than what I think I paid for it at my local "dollar" store. Please be aware that I have not tested this adequately yet! This is very inexpensive nail polish and I had hopes to have this tested better before putting out this video. Please do this at your own risk only! If you like the idea of gel polish better, then I have a link to the kit I used below. I found it easy to work with. It was actually a bit easier to work with than the regular nail polish when it came to making lines. Please be aware that I have not tested this as much as I tested the regular nail polish. If you use the link below be sure to look through the different color options available to find colors that are appealing to you.
